Paul Spencer, Democratic candidate for Arkansas’s Second Congressional District, released the following statement regarding the recent Federal Election Commission fundraising deadline.
Candidate Spencer provided the following statement:
Since we kicked off our campaign, we have run a people-powered race that seeks to give the citizens of this district a representative who answers only to them, not to the big donors.
We are only taking contributions from individuals and will reject any and all special interest money. To date, we have raised over $15,000 with an average contribution of just $48. Of the over 100 individuals who have contributed to this campaign so far, an astounding 75 percent are residents of the Second District.
It’s clear from our fundraising efforts that the energy is on our side in this race. I want to publicly thank each and every person who has contributed to this campaign; without them, we can do nothing. From county meetings to fairs to neighborhood gatherings and college campuses, we have encountered a staggering level of support for our message across the communities of our district.
This outpouring of support, both from those who have given financially and the over 500 individuals who have signed up to give of their time or talents, has shown us that the people of this district are ready to change the kind of representation they have in Washington. We will continue to work tirelessly to bring our message to every corner of the Second District and deliver this change to the people who live here and deserve to have their voices heard.
