Paul Spencer, Democratic candidate for Arkansas’s Second Congressional District, released the following statement after the Senate’s motion to proceed vote on a healthcare bill.
Candidate Spencer provided the following statement:
“Today, both Senators of our state—the second poorest state in the union—voted to open debate on a healthcare bill they have not read. This is a clear example of how special interests influence and corporate greed have damaged our representative democracy.
Now, so many of our neighbors, friends, and family members face the reality of losing their healthcare coverage. They could be one of the up-to 32 million that go without the care they require.
We need to expand healthcare coverage, not take it away. We need to demand legitimate action to lower skyrocketing premiums. We need to push for universally-guaranteed healthcare with Medicare-For-All legislation.
Healthcare is a human right, not a privilege for the wealthy elite.”
