Paul Spencer, Democratic candidate for Arkansas’s Second Congressional District, released the following statement regarding his campaign’s new advertisement on restoring wealth in Black and Hispanic communities.
Candidate Spencer provided the following statement:
“After the 2008 financial crisis, Black and Hispanic households saw over 50% of their wealth disappear, and they have yet to see anywhere near the recovery that high-income white households have experienced. It’s time we directly address this unequal recovery of wealth and make direct investments in these communities to revive their local economies, which would allow the people who live there to build their wealth and re-invest it in their own neighborhoods without relying on gentrification. This plan also includes a vital restoration of democracy, including automatic voter registration, restoration of felon voting rights, and local control of all public schools."
Please watch our video, Direct Investment in Communities of Color: Restoring Abandoned Neighborhoods, for our campaign’s take on building up these vital local economies.”
